Day 14

Message

SUNDAY, JANUARY 14th

Praying for the CITY of KILLEEN in the New Year.

Proverbs 11:11 [NIV] “Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.”

THOUGHT for TODAY:

The word “blessing” in Hebrew is the word “berakah.” Berakah means, to speak a good word of favor or blessing. It comes from the root word “barak.” Barak means, to kneel. Kneeling is a posture of surrender, a posture of worship, and a posture of a servant. We can bless our city by what we say and by what we pray. We can also bless our city by serving. Our city officials and city employees need the “upright” to speak favorably over them. Pray God’s Word and say kind, thoughtful, and positive words about them. As Christians, the upright, we have power in our words, on our knees, and in our hands to exalt the City of Killeen.

Prayer

Father, I lift the City of Killeen up to Your throne. May its citizens serve their city and speak well of the government and city employees. May each employee prosper and be in good health. May their jobs be secure and may they have favor with the citizens of Killeen. Show the citizens how we can help our city to be exalted and not be destroyed. We come against all negative words and speech against our city and command those seeds/words to bear no fruit. I ask for Your strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!

What to pray

  • Pray and develop a righteous attitude toward our government and city employees.

  • Find the names of government and city employees whose jobs most affect you as a citizen and pray for them.

  • Pray for the City Council of Killeen.

  • Pray and ask God where you might serve your city and become a tremendous help to the city employees.

  • Always speak well and pray favorably about your city.
