Day 20
Message
Praying for WIDOWS in the New Year.
1 Timothy 5:3-5 [PASS] “The church needs to honor and support the widows, especially those who are in direct need. 4 But if they have children or grandchildren at home, then it is only proper to let them provide for the ones who raised them when they were children, for kindness begins at home and pleases God. 5 For the true widow is all alone and has placed her complete hope in God. She is Messiah’s missionary and will need support of the church as one who remains in prayer day and night.”
THOUGHT for TODAY:
God calls the Church to care for and minister to the widow who has no children or grandchildren to see after her. The Bible is consistent in the Old and New Testament concerning widows and the treatment they are to receive from their family and the Church. In 1 Kings 17:8-15, a widow encounters the Prophet Elijah. He asks her for a jar of water and a piece of bread. She was gathering sticks for the fire to make a last meal for herself and her son and in her words, “that we may eat it and die.” But through the supernatural direction from Elijah and her obedience to the Lord, the jar of flour and oil never ran out after that day. God still meets the needs of all people who walk in obedience to Him and His Word. But He also expects family and the Church to take care of widows who are alone and without family.
Scripture
Psalm 68:5 [GNT] “God, who lives in His sacred Temple, cares for orphans and protects widows.”
Psalm 146:9 [NLT] “The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but He frustrates the plans of the wicked.”
James 1:27 [AMP] “External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world.”
Prayer
Father, I pray for widows who are in the Church, the body of Christ, and within CLC. I pray that they are supernaturally protected and provided for by You and your angels. I also pray that their family would take care of and provide for them, meeting their specific needs, as she is their mother or grandmother. May the Church and CLC know the widows within the congregation, and may they be helped when the circumstance arises. I pray that every widow within the Church is loved, cared for, and looked after according to their needs and through the love of Christ within each believer. I ask for Your strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!
What to pray
-
Pray for the needs of widows in general and the specific needs of each woman who is a widow.

Intercede for them as their husband is no longer with them. Ask the Lord to overshadow them with His love, goodness, and care.
-
Pray for their family members to take care of them because they raised their children and took care of them.
