Day 30

Message

TUESDAY, JANUARY 30th

WITNESSING TO PEOPLE in the New year.

1 Peter 3:15-16 [CEV] “Honor Christ and let Him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope. 16 Give a kind and respectful answer and keep your conscience clear.”

THOUGHT for TODAY:

Witnessing to people simply means telling others what we’ve personally experienced about Jesus becoming our Lord and Redeemer. For instance, when we received Jesus as our Savior, maybe we told our friends or family about our salvation experience and how wonderful it was. That was our “witnessing” to them. In the gospels of Matthew and Mark, the Lord’s indisputable command to His believers is recorded. Matthew 28:19 says: “Go therefore and disciple all the nations.” And Mark 16:15 says: “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to all the creation.” This commandment is to the Church, which is the whole body of Christ, to our church/CLC, and to us as an individual. Have you told anyone lately about the “good news” of how God saved you and how your life has been radically and gloriously changed? THAT, is witnessing to people. Tell people YOUR story. Tell people what God has done for YOU. Tell them, “This is where I used to be, but because of Jesus in my life, this is where I am today, and it is so much better than I could have imagined.” This is what changes other people’s lives…your story. Tell someone about Jesus.

Scripture

Colossians 4:5-6 [CEV] “When you are with unbelievers, always make good use of the time. 6 Be pleasant and hold their interest when you speak the message. Choose your words carefully and be ready to give answers to anyone who asks questions.”

2 Timothy 2:23 [VOICE] “Excuse yourself from any conversations that turn into foolish and uninformed debates because you know they only provoke fights.”

Acts 1:8 [VOICE] “Here’s the knowledge you need: you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. And you will be My witnesses, first here in Jerusalem, then beyond to Judea and Samaria, and finally to the farthest places on earth.”

Prayer

Father, Your Word says the “righteous are as bold as a lion.” [Proverbs 28:1] Help me to become bold in sharing with others what You have done for me in my life. Forgive me of when I have had opportunities to speak to people about Jesus but did not follow through. I repent of not telling people about my Lord and Savior. I pray that You will give me opportunities daily to witness to others about the goodness and greatness of my God. I believe the Holy Spirit will give me the right words at the right time to speak to people about Jesus. I will not be afraid of rejection because I am strong in the love of Christ for my fellow man. I want to share with others how Jesus has changed my life. I ask for strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!

What to pray

  • Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for boldness to speak up and tell people about Jesus when the time is right.

  • In your prayer time, ask God to bring people across your path and give you an opening to tell them how Jesus has changed your life for the better.

  • Share your story. People want to hear how God has impacted your life.

  • Memorize scripture about God’s love and share those words of life with others.

  • If possible, pray with the people you have been talking to about Jesus.
