SERVING in the New Year.
1 Peter 4:10 [ETRV] “God has shown you His grace in many different ways. So be good servants and use whatever gift He has given you in a way that will best serve each other.”
THOUGHT for TODAY:
Jesus said in Mark 10:45 that He came to “serve, not to be served.” We are never more like Jesus than when we are serving others. Peter encourages us to use the gift that God has given to us for the benefit of others. Whatever the need may be, use your gift to meet that need. God has shown you His favor by giving you a gift. When using your gift in the service of others, it makes a lasting impact on the ones you are helping and on yourself. Below are various quotes that magnify the importance of serving.
“As we lose ourselves in the service of others we discover our own lives and our own happiness.”
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
“Service doesn’t have to be big and grandiose to be meaningful and make a difference.”

Prayer
Father, “Thank You!” for the gift that You have given to me that helps me serve others. My desire is to model the life of Jesus and to serve others. Help me to use my life, my skills and abilities, my gift, to be an asset to the Kingdom of God, my community, my church, and to my fellow man. My life is in Your hands so direct me where You see the greatest need can be impacted by my gift. I deeply regret and repent of missing countless opportunities to serve others because I was selfish. Forgive me for not using the gift You gave me for the betterment of others. I ask for strength and blessing in the name of Jesus, amen!
What to pray

Pray for your eyes to be opened to every opportunity God puts before you to serve others.

Pray against selfishness, indifference, and even laziness that would hinder using the gift God has given you.

Seek out many different avenues to serve within your community, your church, where you work, within your family, etc., that maximizes your gift.

Pray for God’s leading and direction to make the highest impact in people’s lives.
